Message from the Chair

I am honored and excited to be serving as the 2021 Calvert County Chamber of Commerce’s Board Chair. We find ourselves operating our businesses in an economic climate unlike one we have ever seen before. COVID-19 has put pressures on businesses that no one could have anticipated nor prepared for. It is evident now, more than ever, that we must band together as one unified body, one business community, uplifting each other as we overcome the challenges in front of us. We must share innovative ideas and strategies to help each other navigate this uncharted territory. The Chamber exists to serve its members by being an advocate, an educator, and a connector. We are here as your advocate on the issues that impact your business. We are here to educate you on the multiple resources and valuable information that is available and to let you know when your presence may be necessary for your perspective to be heard and considered. And most importantly, we are here to connect all our members by increasing our unified strength in numbers and creating a collective genius in the local business arena.
Now is a critical time to be engaged in our various committees, such as the Business Advisory Committee, the Non-Profit Alliance, the Membership Engagement Committee, our Women to Women and event planning committees. Over the last four years, I have chaired the Chamber’s Business Advisory Committee, which has allowed me to develop relationships with many of our state and county officials. The Chamber acts as the voice of business in government matters, which we cannot do unless we know what you, as businesses, desire from our government officials. To have a successful and mutually beneficial relationship with the county officials we need your help and your ideas on what you need to build successful businesses in Calvert County. We would also like to know if the products and services we are providing to help your business grow are the right products or how we can improve on them. A committee is just one way to get involved, alternatively be sure to attend our wildly successful and well-planned events. Whether those events are in person or virtual, they are designed to help you expand your network while getting to know fellow members and educating you along the way. It is through these introductions at various events that long term, deep rooted and prosperous relationships are born.
.
I am impassioned by local success stories and already seek to help fellow businesses grow and succeed. I would love to help your business become the next Calvert County success story. If there is anything the Chamber or I can do to help you, please do not hesitate to reach out for assistance. The Chamber will continue to be a channel for connecting members with resources, as well as a catalyst for job and business growth. Your membership in the Chamber provides unparalleled opportunities to connect with peers, current and prospective clients, and potential business partners. I look forward to meeting you, working with you to grow your business, and continuing to grow our business community as a whole!
